REPORT ON OUR 2008 SHOW

BRITISH CAR & MOTOR BIKE SHOW

The club's sixth British Car Show was held Sunday, July 27, 2008. It was a great day. Even though it was interrupted by a torrential rain storm in the middle of the day, it gave everyone a chance to break for lunch. Once the storm passed, the sun instantly came out strong and bright, and the show went on with a good crowd of spectators and participants on the field.

We had 91 cars and one British motorbike on the field this year, for a total of 92. (At the 2007 show we had 80 cars and one bike.)

Of special note were two cars that were driven long distances to the show: Ed & Luanne Madak drove from Columbia Station, Ohio, and won first place with their 1969 Primrose Yellow MGC roadster. And Bob & Gloria Cook of Strongsville, Ohio, talked to people all day about their black 1974 MGB, which was displayed with map and photos showing all the places it's been as they've driven more than 350,000 miles all over the continent.

The year the club chose to prepare the food and serve it ourselves with club volunteers, who did a marvelous job. Special thanks to all!

Thanks also to Ron & Lisa Roberts and their helpers for the door-prize and raffle setups. This is the second year for the new system, and all went well. Thanks to all who donated door prizes and gifts. The 50/50 tickets paid out $165 to this year's winner. Thanks to Jenny Cooney and Karen Hornbeck for handling the ticket sales.

We again enjoyed the music of the Rossi-McGurl Project. They were back for the fourth year. Our regalia sales went well, and the club signed up seven new members at this year's show.

Congratulations to all the show winners, listed below!

And again, thanks and appreciation to all club members who provided equipment and volunteered to help work the show. Without your help and support the show would not have been a success. Thanks again!

P.S. Hope to see everyone back for the BCCNEPA 2009 British Car Show in July!
